Job Summary
Run thermal vacuum (TVAC) tests and maintain chamber operations through qualification testing. Mechanically integrate flight hardware including fluid systems, star trackers, radios, and solar arrays while modifying work instructions and adhering to aerospace best practices. Perform development and production activities on space systems with minimal oversight, executing work orders, performing system fault testing, and managing tool calibration to minimize downtime. Coordinate weekly testing goals with the area supervisor, identify blockers, and enforce safety controls across the lab. Thrive in a fast-paced environment balancing technical rigor with schedule pressure to support Blue Origin's reusable spacecraft development.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in aerospace, aviation, military, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with thermal vacuum chambers
- Hands-on experience with electrical assembly tools, bench testing, and measuring instruments
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Experience working on flight hardware, satellites, or other high-reliability systems
- Ability to fully execute work orders, enforce safety standards, and complete complex testing tasks with minimal supervision
- Comfortable operating with reduced process rigor and documentation typical of rapid-development missions, while maintaining core safety and quality standards
- Hands-on, flexible, and a quick learner, organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative with a can-do attitude
- Experience scheduling work and coordinating competing priorities using Jira or similar tools
- Familiarity with MRP systems and inventory planning
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Able to lift 30 lbs, stand for long periods, bend, grasp, sit, pull, push, stoop, and stretch as required for the position
- High school diploma or equivalent certification
- U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Blue's Standard Background Check
- Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation
- Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training if operating Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amount...
- Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
