Job Summary
Senior Systems Engineer for Blue Origin’s Core Systems and Components within the National Security division. You will lead the development, integration, and validation of spacecraft and ground system architectures, develop system requirements and verification plans, manage the full systems engineering lifecycle from concept to delivery, and interface with government customers to translate mission needs into actionable requirements. You’ll mentor junior engineers, identify and mitigate risks, deliver technical presentations and status reports, and support proposal development and technology roadmapping. Preferred qualifications include advanced degrees (MS/PhD) and experience with GNC components, software-hardware co-design, reliability/sustainment engineering, and hands-on attitude-control subsystems. The role emphasizes a strong foundation in electronics, software, FPGA, magnetics, controls, and mechanical engineering, with experience applying Design-for-X principles and familiarity with industry standards. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field
- 7+ years of experience in systems engineering for aerospace or defense platforms
- Deep familiarity with electro-mechanical devices and control systems
- Experience with MIL-STD and NASA standards
- Model-based systems engineering tools and practices
- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
