Sr. Advanced FPGA/Firmware Engineer

Job Summary
Design and verify FPGA systems, including simulation, testing, and optimization, while collaborating on hardware and firmware integration within a Linux environment. Troubleshoot complex hardware challenges using industry-standard tools and support product installations by working directly with government customers on-site as the frontline engineering representative. Contribute to the full development lifecycle from design to deployment across several defense programs. This role offers a 9/80 flexible schedule with every other Friday off, located at General Dynamics Mission Systems' Torpedo Systems Group.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
- Master's degree
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire
- Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation
- Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- U.S. citizenship is required
- FPGA design, simulation, and documentation
- C programming, multithreaded programming, or real-time operating systems
- Hardware and firmware development tools
- Linux environment experience
- Hardware troubleshooting using tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies
- Advanced experience in FPGA design, simulation, and system architecture
- Strong understanding of FPGA process flows including synthesis and timing
- Proficiency in C programming, multithreaded programming, and real-time operating systems
- Hands-on experience with hardware and firmware development tools
- Version control experience, with Git preferred
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex hardware challenges creatively and efficiently
- Deep understanding of system architecture and FPGA engineering best practices
- Experience working across the full firmware development lifecycle from design to deployment
- Knowledge of how engineering decisions contribute to broader program and business objectives
