Job Summary
Compile, review, and analyze financial data for variance analysis, reporting, and accuracy. Support complex financial analyses by developing metrics for production, profitability, and expense management. Prepare external financial statements adhering to GAAP, SEC, and STAT principles while performing Sarbanes-Oxley controls and audit documentation. Lead coaching and training initiatives for team members. This role supports Travelers' accounting team, which serves as the steward of financial information to ensure compliance with internal policies and external requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, and/or professional designations, such as CPA, CMA or comparable advanced professional education
- Experience with accounting theory and practice
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with business partners
- Ability to analyze data to interpret trends and provide insights to management
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle shifting priorities
- Ability to foresee challenges and proactively look for ways to create more efficient processes for the business
- Experience using Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Financial Reporting Software (e.g., TM1, Essbase, Hyperion, etc.)
- Two years of finance, accounting, financial planning, or related experience
