Job Summary
Sr. Financial Reporting Accountant performs a broad range of daily, weekly, and monthly accounting and financial reporting functions for Merrick Bank Corporation, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and supporting the month-end close; provides advanced support for month-end close, assists with audits, regulatory support, and process improvements, and serves as a backup for Accounts Payable. Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing balance sheet schedules, tax returns, FDICIA documentation, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and procedures while leveraging Oracle Cloud Financials and standard office software to deliver timely, accurate financial information.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
- Associate’s degree in Accounting with three (3) years of related and equivalent experience accepted in lieu of education requirement
- A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible accounting experience is required
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Financials and standard office software (Word, Excel, E‐mail, databases)
- Strong analytical and accounting skills; ability to perform complex reconciliations and prepare financial reports; experience supporting audits and regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of tax returns preparation (sales/use tax, property tax) and FDICIA controls; ability to document procedures and support month-end close
