SQL Engineer III

Job Summary
Design, develop, and maintain advanced SQL queries, views, functions, and stored procedures for mission-critical systems while installing and configuring Microsoft SQL Server instances. Optimize database and query performance through indexing, execution plan analysis, and schema improvements to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across pipelines. Lead complex data modeling and transformation efforts, troubleshooting reliability issues and establishing development standards. Partner with engineering, ETL, and BI teams to define scalable solutions, contribute to architecture reviews, and support data governance in regulated environments. This senior individual contributor operates with high autonomy to influence data standards and mentor peers across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL, including complex joins, CTEs, window functions, and performance tuning
- Deep understanding of relational database design, normalization, indexing, and query optimization
- Experience with Microsoft Azure
- Strong experience working with large datasets and complex schemas
- Ability to design scalable, high-performance data solutions
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to influence technical standards and mentor peers
- Effective communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Significant experience in SQL engineering, data engineering, or database development
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex technical work
- May support systems requiring availability during critical business operations
