Job Summary
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances on-premises and in the cloud, including high availability, disaster recovery, backup/restore, and capacity planning. Monitor and tune databases through index strategy, execution plan optimization, and I/O/memory management while implementing health dashboards. Oversee schema changes, environment promotions, and release coordination across Dev/Test/Prod with version control and automation. Implement and audit role-based access control, encryption, and STIG-driven hardening aligned to DoD policies for TS/SCI environments. Build administrative scripts in T-SQL and PowerShell for maintenance and repeatable deployments. Define and test recovery objectives, validate failover procedures, and enforce data integrity standards. Provide Tier 3 escalation support and on-call rotation coverage as required. Partner with application owners, cybersecurity, and network teams to remediate data issues and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and architecture diagrams. Deliver capacity, performance, and compliance reporting to program leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI + CI Poly clearance
- BS, 5-7 years of relevant experience; MS, 3-5 years; PhD, 0-3 years
- One of the following DoD 8570/ CS-DAT-421 certifications: CISSP (Preferred), CASP+, GCED, CISA
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server (2016+), TSQL, backup/restore strategies, high availability, and performance tuning
- Experience with PowerShell for automation and administrative scripting
- Hands on with change management, SDLC environments, and release governance in a secure enterprise
- Familiarity with STIG/hardening practices, auditing, and security controls applicable to DoD environments
- U.S. Citizenship
- 20% travel
