Job Summary
Set up large amounts of material for spreading while ensuring tension-free spreading and maximizing utilization. Mark splices, record roll tickets, and inspect fabric for defects as the lay is spread. Identify and record yards of defective fabric by roll number to provide information to Quality Control. This position is part of the AbilityOne Program, providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities through nonprofit agencies that deliver manufacturing services. Applicants must meet eligibility criteria for the AbilityOne Program, which requires 75% of services to be completed by individuals who are blind or have significant disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Less than a high school education
- At least one (1) year of experience in a Cutting Room or similar job
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to record and track information in records
- Ability to handle rolls of fabric material
- Ability to record information on cutting tickets
- Ability to track yards used
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and work most of the day
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to climb or balance
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to talk or hear
- Close vision
- Distance vision
- Color vision
- Depth perception
- Ability to adjust focus
- Ability to be prepared to work in a noisy manufacturing area with heavy traffic and floor vibrations
