Job Summary
Interim Teacher position at Spotswood Elementary School involves fulfilling regular licensed-teacher duties while in licensure coursework, with support from a mentor and participation in professional development. Responsibilities include preparing students for instruction, designing instruction aligned to Virginia Standards of Learning, planning and delivering lessons, using diverse assessment strategies to monitor progress, providing evaluative feedback, maintaining records and progress reports, leveraging materials and technology to develop critical thinking, and upholding classroom management to ensure a safe, productive learning environment. The role requires an Associate’s Degree (or 60 credits and enrollment in a licensure program), and at least one year of experience with children; active enrollment in licensure coursework is preferred. The position offers benefits and potential contract terms (10-Month/200 Day).
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university -OR- 60 course credits and currently enrolled in a teaching program
- One (1) year of experience working with children, ideally within a teaching, leadership or mentorship role
- Actively enrolled in the coursework required to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
