Job Summary
Sports Turf Lead Worker responsible for maintaining athletic fields and surrounding areas to optimum performance, safety, and appearance. Leads a crew, assists in planning and managing major athletic grounds renovations, oversees quality control of reconstruction activities, restores fields after weather or wear, assesses disease and insect problems, applies pesticides/herbicides/fertilizers, operates turf maintenance equipment, and maintains supplies and equipment. Requires high school diploma/GED, 3+ years related experience, Florida pesticide applicator license (or to obtain within 180 days), and strong communication and teamwork skills. Works under supervision with periodic site reviews and provides instruction to daily project crew members.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties
- Florida pesticide applicator license OR obtain one within 180 days of hire
- Certified with the State of Florida for use and combination of pesticides
- Knowledge and experience in turf maintenance and landscaping is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret safety manuals and work orders
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
