Job Summary
Full-time Surgical Consultant in San Jose, CA, supporting orthopedic sports medicine surgical sales within the designated territory. Primary responsibilities include covering surgical cases as directed, transporting equipment to facilities, delivering surgical techniques and videos to hospitals, tracking purchase orders, and supporting team meetings and territory functions. The role requires knowledge of orthopedic surgery anatomy and repair/reconstruction techniques, ability to educate physicians about products from manufacturer partners (including Stryker), self-motivation, and the ability to work with limited guidance. Requires BA/BS, 2+ years of surgical sports medicine device sales experience, in-house product training, field sales experience, strong communication skills (group and telephonic), computer skills, and up to 20% overnight travel; must hold a valid driver's license and be able to manage multiple tasks within a territory.
Required Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. degree required
- Surgical sports medicine device sales experience (2+ years required)
- Field sales training--In-field training
- Successful completion of the in-house product training program
- Computer training
- Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up-to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Must be able to communicate with large groups of people
- Must be able to communicate telephonically
- Must be able to use common office equipment (e.g. fax, modem, calculator, PC, etc.)
- Up to 20% overnight travel annually
- Must be able to drive an automobile/valid driver's license
- Must have command of all products, including functionality, features, and factors that differentiate Stryker products from its competitors’ products and be able to disseminate this knowledge to the customer
- Must be able to analyze territory market potential prioritize call patterns accordingly
