Job Summary
As a Sports Instructor, you will provide an enjoyable and safe sporting experience for youth while coaching them in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for success in various sports. Responsibilities include the development and management of the team, supervising coaching assistants, conducting activities and clinics, ensuring a safe environment for students, and maintaining quality service to the community. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army and possess effective communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving
- Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, members, clients, and customers
- Must possess the physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills
- Will attend and complete at least 2 hours of Child Safety training as approved by The Salvation Army
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in coaching sports (specifically soccer, volleyball, basketball, or T-Ball) at the elementary school level or higher
- Previous experience in working with youth
Additional Requirements
- The candidate chosen for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check
- Valid driver's license and insured transportation required
