Job Summary
Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of youth and adult sports and enrichment programs across Summit and Berkeley Heights branches. Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise program staff while providing ongoing coaching and feedback. Organize and instruct sports clinics, leagues, classes, and seasonal activities, including serving as a member of the summer camp leadership team. Coordinate logistics for teams, facilities, equipment, and officials, and manage program budgets, expenses, and registrations. Develop new programs to strengthen participation and ensure safety, quality, and operational excellence. Build relationships with participants, families, community organizations, and partners. Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends to support seven-day operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Minimum of two years of experience leading sports, recreation, or youth programming
- Experience instructing sports programs and the ability to lead classes and activities as needed
- Experience working with diverse populations and developing community relationships
- Minimum of one year of experience in budget management and staff and/or volunteer supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated maturity and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
