Job Summary
Produce and present sports reports across all platforms, creating long-form content for streaming channels and writing concise stories for social media, websites, and television. Conduct interviews and discussions with local and national sports figures while operating broadcast equipment and editing video clips for live, recorded, and social items. Respond to breaking news situations as required and assist in coordinating programming, copy editing, and research. Shoot video for reports and execute content for live or recorded events. Maintain video equipment and interact with viewers on social media sites.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Superior on-air presence
- Minimum three years' experience in sports reporting and anchoring (more or less depending on market size)
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
- Experience with posting and editing content to all social media platforms
- Experience guiding, directing and motivating others
- Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners and other office equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
