Job Summary
Monitor designated sports areas and enforce rules to ensure safe, fair play for all participants. Manage games efficiently by setting up equipment, keeping score, and leading pre-game discussions and post-game huddles. Coach fundamentals and referee recreational leagues up to 3rd grade while fostering sportsmanship. Clean program spaces, evaluate equipment needs, and assist in fundraising events as designated. Follow emergency procedures and attend required trainings including CPR/AED and First Aid. Maintain alertness and physical agility to respond swiftly to game situations or emergencies. Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support the Y's mission of strengthening community through youth development.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age 16
- Minimum of one season of sports experience
- General understanding of sports
- Strong interest in working with individuals of all ages
- Relevant knowledge and understanding of rules/game play of one or more sports
- CPR/AED certification
- First Aid certification
- New Leader Orientation training
- Online training
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
- Passion for learning
- Passion for working with youth/families
