Job Summary

Sports Broadcasting Assistant supports broadcasting activities for 22 West Radio, planning and managing broadcast coverage across multiple sports, coordinating programming schedules, supporting student board operators and volunteer reporters, directing setup of remote broadcast equipment, and promoting sports programming through marketing and social media. The role involves recruiting and training student talent, coordinating guest commentators for events, attending staff meetings, and fulfilling contractual obligations with CSULB athletics. Requires a CSULB student in good standing, availability for occasional evenings/weekends, and completion of mandatory training including FCC regulations; salary is estimated at $17.50/hour for the upcoming Fall 2026 – Spring 2027 academic year, with a temporary, one-academic-year appointment.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year of college coursework, or 3–6 months of experience or training in sports broadcasting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.
  • Knowledge of college sports including basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball and water polo.
  • Proficiency in Internet software and Microsoft Office; knowledge of Google and Adobe Creative applications.
  • Must acquire proficiency in Station Playlist Pro and Adobe Audition software through mandatory training.
  • Must complete training on FCC broadcast regulations regarding content.
