Job Summary
Full-time role to develop sports reporting and digital video coverage for WLUC, emphasizing engaging storytelling beyond plays and scores. Responsibilities include writing for on-air/online, videography and non-linear editing, meeting deadlines, collaborating with the Sports Director and News Director, anchoring three nights weekly and reporting the other two, setting up feature stories, leveraging digital and social coverage, and delivering LIVE shots while covering D-1 college hockey and local sports at the college and high school levels, plus outdoors; requires strong writing, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and a deep familiarity with regional sports.
Required Qualifications
- Writing for on-air and online
- Working knowledge of videography and non-linear editing
- Must meet deadlines and multitask
- Anchor three nights a week (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) and report the remaining two
- Covering D-1 College Hockey programs at Upper Michigan universities
- Emphasizing LOCAL sports coverage on the college and high school levels, plus outdoors
- Strong understanding of English language, writing and grammar
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of social media platforms to share sports coverage
- Team collaboration and enthusiasm for collaboration
- Thorough understanding of the sports world and regional teams
- Demonstrated background in sports reporting or related educational program
