Job Summary
Oversee the Sporting Goods department by creating daily worklists, merchandising stock, and maintaining inventory pricing while ensuring strict adherence to state and federal firearms safety regulations. Perform regular audits of firearm inventory and forms, receive and process firearms into control systems, and set departmental signage for sales and promotions. Provide service-oriented leadership by developing product knowledge for team members, facilitating merchandising standards, and communicating effectively to foster positive working relationships. In certain stores, operate as a key carrier to assist with store opening and closing procedures under management supervision.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years old
- Legally own a firearm
- Pass a criminal background check
- Extensive knowledge of firearms (types, calibers, actions etc.)
- Demonstrated willingness to learn about firearms
- Complete multiple specialist certifications within the Sporting Goods department or have demonstrated equivalent experience
- Strong communication (written, oral, and interpersonal) skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Positive attitude and demonstrated practice of learning
- Effective at problem-solving
- Strong Windows-based computer skills
- Close vision for computer work
- Must adhere to all Murdoch's firearms safety rules and regulations
- Create and maintain a safe environment for customers and team members
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to bend, carry, and push
- Must be able to work on a ladder
- Must be able to perform repetitive wrist movements on keyboard
