Job Summary
Spiritual Support Assistant to the Chaplain providing direct spiritual support and emotional care to hospice patients and families, collaborating with the Chaplain and interdisciplinary team, coordinating with community chaplains and spiritual counselors, maintaining documentation of services, participating in care conferences, and assisting with recruitment of chaplains/volunteers and planning memorial services. Demonstrates empathy, cultural sensitivity, and respect for diverse spiritual beliefs; supports education and outreach through congregations and community networks; contributes to quality assessment and program development within hospice care.
Required Qualifications
- Ordained/commissioned or credentialed according to the practices of an organized religious group
- Experience working with death and dying, individuals/family/caregiver
- Ability to work as member of interdisciplinary group
- Comfort in an interfaith setting
- Ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values
- Ability to network with community clergy and congregations
- Knowledge of and commitment to hospice philosophy of care
- Hospice experience preferred
- Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order
