Job Summary
UPMC Hamot is recruiting a spine-focused neurosurgeon to join a premier Neurosciences Institute at a Level II Trauma Center in Erie, PA. The role entails a high-volume practice with ~80% spine and ~20% cranial cases, a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, and dedicated OR block time. The position offers an enhanced compensation package with a $50K sign-on, relocation benefits, CME stipend and days, PSLF eligibility, and employer-paid malpractice insurance. Immigration options include J1 waivers and H-1B sponsorship for 2027 and beyond. The successful candidate will work within a fully integrated Epic EMR system, with support from APPs and a broad referral network, and opportunities for teaching and quality initiatives. Responsibilities include treating complex spine pathology, neurotrauma, brain tumors, and cerebrovascular disease within a comprehensive care framework, while maintaining career longevity and work-life balance.
Required Qualifications
- MD/DO from an accredited medical school
- Accredited Neurosurgery Residency Program completion
- Fellowship training is not required; however Accredited Spine Neurosurgery Fellowship completion is a plus
- Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery
- Ability to obtain an unrestricted Pennsylvania Medical License and ability to obtain necessary credentials
- DEA certification
