Job Summary
Speech-Language Pathologist provides evaluation, treatment, and education to residents with communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders in the skilled nursing setting. Works as part of an interdisciplinary care team to help residents regain or maintain highest level of functional ability, independence, and quality of life. Responsibilities include bedside swallow evaluations and dietary texture recommendations, direct therapy with progress-based modification, documentation, collaboration with nursing/dietary/therapy staff, educating residents/families/staff on communication techniques and swallowing precautions, participating in care plan meetings, supervising therapy assistants/students, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Education and licensure requirements for Oregon (CCC-SLP preferred; CFY considered) are required or preferred; previous geriatrics/ SNF experience is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current and valid Speech-Language Pathologist license in the state of Oregon (or applicable state)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred; CFY candidates may be considered
- Experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehab, or geriatrics preferred
- Skills: Strong clinical reasoning, excellent communication skills, team collaboration, and thorough documentation ability
