Job Summary
Conduct goal-directed speech and language pathology evaluations, treatment, and discharge planning for inpatients under physician orders. Perform initial and ongoing assessments to develop therapeutic plans for speech, language, or cognitive disorders, re-evaluating inpatients at least every two weeks. Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, manage insurance authorizations, and ensure accurate monthly productivity metrics and daily statistics. Deliver discharge instructions, identify adaptive equipment needs, and provide constructive feedback to support staff. Maintain current documentation, progress notes, and conference records per departmental guidelines while assisting in orientation and training of new employees and students.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- 1-3 years Speech Language Pathology experience
- SLP-Speech Language Pathologist - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association
- Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of Speech – Language Pathology
- Knowledge of professional guidelines for delivering treatments or application of therapeutic modalities
- Knowledge of standards, polices and procedures of Denver Health as they pertain to speech therapy
- Skill to properly use medical instruments and laboratory equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
- Ability to determine and diagnose communicative deficits
- Ability to instruct aides in appropriate procedures in accordance with policy and standards
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be available for intermittent weekdays
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
