Job Summary
Assess patients, establish treatment plans based on diagnosis and professional standards, and provide care using specific modalities. Accurately document treatments, communicate with team members and referring physicians, and incorporate age-specific guidelines with evidence-based training. Develop measurable goals, track progress, and adjust interventions to achieve maximum benefit or discharge patients. Provide patient and family education, assist with daily billing and schedule maintenance, and participate in departmental meetings and continuous improvement initiatives. Adhere to C-I-CARE Standards and ASHA guidelines while maintaining strong communication across hospital departments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Speech, Language Pathology from an accredited university
- Current license to practice Speech Therapy in the State of California
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
- Good physical condition, which requires moderate lifting of equipment and patients
- Ability to work flexible schedules and varying locations as assigned
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the hospital and departments
- Strong organization
- Strong time management ability
- Problem solver and critical thinker with the ability to anticipate possible issues
- Strong computer skills
- Self-initiative
- Knowledge of Medicare documentation standards
- Knowledge of hospital safety, quality and joint commission standards
- Knowledge of standard medical abbreviations for documentation
Desired Qualifications
- Prefer 3 years of experience as a Speech, Language Pathologist
- Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) certification preferred for inpatient speech therapist roles
