Job Summary
Assess and treat persons with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders in an extended care facility. Develop treatment plans for issues such as stuttering, delayed language, or swallowing disorders based on physician and psychologist recommendations. Monitor patient progress, adjust treatments, and administer evaluations including hearing tests, speech assessments, and barium swallow results to diagnose impairments. Instruct clients on communication techniques like sign language and voice improvement while teaching muscle control exercises. Write reports documenting client Medicaid records, billing information, and discharge activities. Maintain current professional skills through seminars and literature review. Requires a Master's degree in speech pathology, a Florida Speech Pathologist license, and CPR certification.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in speech pathology
- Florida Speech Pathologist license in good standing
- CPR certification (attainable within 90 days after hire)
- State background check standards compliance
