Job Summary
Evaluates and treats residents and patients with speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in compliance with state and federal guidelines; initiates preventive and rehabilitative therapy procedures; develops and revises plan of care and discharge plan in conjunction with patient, family, physician, and care team to assist patient in reaching or maintaining a maximum level of independence; evaluates patient response to therapy services, arranges additional services as needed, and obtains physician orders; educates patient, family, and care team on disease processes, self-care techniques, and prevention strategies; screens and evaluates residents to develop appropriate care plans; under a physician's direction, provides direct patient treatment based on established plan of care; plans and conducts rehabilitative programs to restore communicative efficiency for those with communication, swallowing, or cognitive issues; administers, scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech tests; documents in compliance with Medicare/Medicaid and other regulatory requirements; maintains patient records; performs other duties as assigned; requires a Master’s degree (or higher) and licensure in Speech Language Pathology per state law; 1 year of clinical experience preferred; full-time or PRN opportunities available.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy/ Occupational Therapy/ Speech Pathology with a Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree
- Current licensure by the South Carolina State Board of Speech Language Pathology (as required by state law)
- Licensed in Speech Language Pathology as required by state law
- Certification in clinical competency
- Current CPR certification
