Job Summary
Administer speech and language evaluations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients with speech problems and swallowing disorders. Assess patients with cognitive or swallowing issues to develop individualized treatment plans and instruct them in therapeutic exercises. Monitor disease progression and adjust treatments accordingly while ensuring all departmental standards, policies, and regulatory requirements are met. Provide consultation for patients working through treatment processes and may supervise assistants, aides, and students. Interact with providers, case managers, and third-party payers across inpatient clinical areas including ICU, cardiology, and neuro. Participate in activities promoting the department and Good Samaritan Society, providing ongoing education to peers in areas of expertise.
Required Qualifications
- Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure
- Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Speech-Language Pathologist
- Holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)
- Valid driver's license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment
Desired Qualifications
- When working at a Sanford Health Facility (not required but preferred by GSS Facilities): Holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)
