Job Summary
Provide speech-language therapy within the Learning Support team to understand and address speech and language difficulties in children and young people across home, school and community. Collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers and other specialists in a trans-disciplinary setting to support development of speech, language and communication skills. Co-ordinate service provision in a multi-agency context, contributing to effective inclusion and learning outcomes for diverse learners in Invercargill/Southland. Requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Therapy (or equivalent), NZ driver’s licence, and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Public Service Standards.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Therapy or an equivalent that meets the requirements of the New Zealand Speech-language Therapists Association
- Specialist knowledge of theory, research and practice related to speech-language, child and human development and learning and behaviour
- Ability to translate specialist knowledge into practical information
- Ability to co-ordinate service provision in a multi-agency, trans-disciplinary setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with children, young people and their families and teachers across a diverse range of settings
- A full NZ Drivers licence
- The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct
