Job Summary

Evaluate and deliver therapy services to adults and school-aged children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in group homes, adult day programs, and outpatient medical facilities. Develop therapeutic plans addressing oral motor, communication, and feeding needs while treating patients with disabilities, disorders, and injuries related to speech and language pathology. Utilize therapeutic devices to prevent regression and restore speech and language modalities, then plan, direct, and supervise patients, families, and significant others in equipment use and exercise regimens. Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and maintain contemporaneous documentation using electronic health records to meet productivity expectations. Requires a current New York State license, Certificate of Clinical Competence, and at least one year of healthcare speech therapy experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Current SLP New York State License or qualifies for receiving license after completing all requirements
  • Current Certificate of Clinical completion in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association or qualifies for receiving certificate after completing all requirements
  • Meets the education and experience requirements for a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology

Desired Qualifications

  • A minimum of one year Speech Therapy experience in a health care setting working with individuals with Developmental Delays preferred
  • Experience with the I/DD population (2+ years is preferable)
  • Dysphagia experience, a big plus
  • AAC experience strongly preferred but not required
