Job Summary
Provide family-centered speech and language services to children from birth to school entry, including clinical assessment, intervention, community consultation, and education. Implement population health approaches targeting primary prevention and promoting healthy communication in the general population. Manage time effectively to prioritize workload while communicating with children, families, and community agency personnel. Casual position with Vancouver Coastal Health in North Vancouver, BC. Requires current full registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC and two years of recent related experience. Salary range is CAD $44.85/Hr. to CAD $56.02/Hr. Valid BC driver's license required for local travel.
Required Qualifications
- Current full registration as a Speech Language Pathologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC)
- Two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience
- Valid BC Drivers Licence
- Knowledge of speech-language pathology diagnostic and therapeutic principals, procedures and approaches, and clinical best practices relevant to the birth to school-entry population
- Specialized knowledge of early child development, adult learning and principles of family-centered service
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with children and families, team members, other groups and community agency personnel
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and prioritize workload
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict situations
- Demonstrated ability to operate computer equipment and other related technology
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver presentations
- Demonstrated ability to manage ongoing purposeful change
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check
- all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections
