Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive speech-language and swallowing evaluations, assess disorders including dysphagia, and develop individualized plans of care with measurable, function-based goals. Provide skilled therapeutic interventions addressing communication, cognition, and swallowing safety while monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans based on clinical response. Support patients and families in behavioral adaptations, lead discharge planning, and communicate findings to physicians and interdisciplinary teams in accordance with HIPAA. Participate in care conferences, quality assurance initiatives, and collaborative planning across two Oakland facilities, maintaining compliance with state practice standards and assisting with resident positioning and evacuation.
Required Qualifications
- Current, active, and unrestricted Speech Language Pathologist license in the State of California
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Ongoing compliance with continuing education requirements established by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board

- The ability to assist with patient positioning during evaluations and treatment
- Performing oral mechanism examinations and swallowing assessments
- Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and computer-based documentation
- The ability to assist in resident evacuation during emergency situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to exercise sound clinical judgment
