Job Summary
Provide speech and language therapy, evaluations, and intervention for children ages 5-21 with autism, focusing on language, auditory processing, articulation, and voice fluency. Collaborate with families, teachers, and colleagues to address goals outlined in IFSP or IEPs, while independently reviewing outcomes and modifying programs. Write evaluations and progress reports, maintaining documentation in compliance with state and local requirements. Utilize behavior management techniques and implement CPI procedures when necessary to ensure student safety. Work onsite at a school in the Bronx from Monday through Friday, with occasional travel to other locations.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders
- Current NY license
- Must be able to keep students safe from themselves and others
- Must be able to implement CPI procedures
- Must be able to remove oneself from potentially harmful situations
- Must be able to lift a child
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the workday
- Must be able to lift (at least 50-65 pounds), assist, and/or physically support students
- Must be able to physically intervene when required to ensure safety (per CPI training)
- Must be able to remove oneself and/or others from unsafe situations quickly
- Must be able to maintain attention and focus in a dynamic, high-stimulation environment
- Must be able to multi-task and shift priorities quickly
- Must be able to exercise sound judgment and decision-making, particularly in high-pressure or safety-sensitive situations
- Must be able to work effectively as part of a team and maintain professional relationships
- Must be able to perform duties under stress, including during behavioral escalations
- Monday – Friday / 8:00AM-3:30PM (and once a week until 4PM for a team meeting)
- Location: Onsite at our school in Bronx (may be required to travel to other locations)
Desired Qualifications
- TSSLD certification preferred
