Job Summary
Perform comprehensive evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver skilled interventions for patients across medical-surgical, ICU, telemetry, and specialty units. Participate in interdisciplinary discussions to recommend NPO status, diet levels, and instrumental assessments, while documenting all activities timely in the electronic medical record. Provide patient, family, and staff education regarding communication, cognition, and swallowing as appropriate. Contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives within the team. This acute care role requires weekend availability, a minimum of two years in acute settings, current state licensure, CCC certification, and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association or eligibility for Certification pending professional experience
- Certified BLS or completion in the first 90 days of employment
- Acute care experience, minimum one year required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in acute care
- Minimum PRN requirements: 1 weekend shift of availability per month in addition to one high-need day (could be weekend or weekday), as determined by the needs of the department
- Weekend availabilty required
Desired Qualifications
- Competency with MBSS, strongly preferred
- Strong communication, critical thinking and teamwork skills
