Job Summary
Conduct age and diagnosis appropriate evaluations and treatments for patients in acute adult and NICU settings. Maintain patient care records according to documentation standards, policies, and procedures while evaluating patient response to treatment. Recommend alternative plans to accommodate department needs and participate in special departmental programs, clinical education, and program development. Attain established productivity levels set forth by administration and conduct professional development, required training, and credentialing. Adapt communication style and behavior to specific patient populations, including requesting permissions and explaining procedures clearly.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree
- Current Louisiana Speech Pathologist license or eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity from another state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Certification of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good judgment and excellent decision-making skills in dealing with a variety of patients and diagnosis
- Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects
- Occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force
