Job Summary
Conduct evaluations, assess home environments, and identify equipment needs relative to speech and language function. Identify functional speech defects and establish care plans to improve patient outcomes. Administer therapy programs using specialized techniques and equipment, while recommending communication devices as indicated. Confers with physicians and personnel to ensure coordinated care, participates in case conferences, and prepares notes per policy. Instruct patients, families, and healthcare staff on treatment regimes, and may supervise home health aides. Maintain clinical competency and refer patients for additional services when appropriate. No direct supervision required. Pay scale $100-$110 per visit.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or doctoral degree in speech-language pathology (SLP)
- Completion of a 300-hour supervised clinical practice with a wide variety of ages and communication disorders under the direction of an educational institution approved by the Board
- Evidence of completion of no less than 36 weeks of supervised professional fulltime experience or 72 weeks of professional part-time experience obtained under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist
- Passage of a Board-approved examination
- A minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
- Valid in-state driver's license
- Current registration and insurance for driver's license
- Driving record
- Good verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to work with little direct supervision
- Strong understanding of speech-related conditions, causes, and treatments
