Job Summary
Evaluate, plan, and administer medically prescribed speech therapy treatments to patients in accordance with physician orders and standard therapeutic procedures. Supervise techs, volunteers, and students while participating in patient, family, hospital, and community education. Perform initial evaluations, establish interventions within practice standards, and modify treatment programs based on patient status. Coordinate care with physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and physicians; document patient activities timely and accurately. Teach patients and caregivers regarding treatment programs, precautions, and equipment use. Maintain current certification, licensure, and continuing education requirements. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and inter-departmental teams to share unit knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech Therapy
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Licensed Speech Therapist in Washington, D.C.
Desired Qualifications
- 1-2 years' experience preferred
