Job Summary
Conduct diagnostic speech and language evaluations, assess home environments, and identify equipment needs to improve patient function. Administer informal audio-logical assessments, recommend communication devices, and prepare detailed reports for clients. Provide direct speech services under a provider's plan of care while advising and teaching clients, family members, and staff on supportive activities. Record client responses to therapy and make care recommendations. Requires ASHA certification, state licensure, acute care experience, and ability to make home visits with reliable transportation. Required Qualifications
- Possess certification of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech Language Hearing Association
- Licensed as a speech therapist in the state in which practicing
- At least one (1) year of acute care setting or equivalent experience
- Possess knowledge of principles and practices of speech therapy
- Complies and maintains current CPR certification
- Ability to make home visits and provide nursing care in the home environment
- Must have reliable transportation, current driver's license, and appropriate automobile insurance
