Speech Language Pathologist - PEDS

Job Summary

Prioritize care needs based on medical necessity and discharge plans while performing skilled rehabilitation treatment for pediatric populations with autism, dysphagia, and congenital anomalies. Evaluate referred patients, establish treatment goals, develop plans, and adjust interventions based on progress. Supervise therapy interns, document all contacts in compliance with DNV and payer criteria, and facilitate activity plans with nursing and caregivers. Provide direct treatment, caregiver education, and patient/family support while maintaining a safe therapeutic environment. Participate in weekend and holiday rotations across four shifts per two-week pay period.

Required Qualifications

  • A master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology
  • possess a valid Oregon State license in Speech/Language Pathology
  • An Oregon State License in Speech/Language Pathology must be obtained within one year of appointment
  • BLS certificate within 30 days of hire or prior to independent practice
  • Competency and experience with assessment and interventions for medically complex patient populations such as autism, pediatric dysphagia, extreme prematurity, congenital brain anomalies, other specialty pediatric developmental and rehabilitation patient populations
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Ability to repeatedly carry equipment weighing more than 5 lbs.
  • Ability to walk extensively on hard and soft surfaces
  • Frequent bending and reaching to navigate medical equipment or perform treatment
  • Motor ability to successfully assist patients in transfers and gait
  • Knowledge of inpatient medical environments and equipment such as oxygen/ventilation/respiratory apparatuses
  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to urgent medical situations that may arise with high-risk or medically complex patient populations
  • Availability 4 shifts per 2 week pay period, with 2 of those shifts on weekends
  • Participation in holiday rotation

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in one of the following settings: Pediatric Acute Care, NICU, Pediatric Outpatient
