Job Summary
Screen residents for communication problems, conduct in-depth evaluations, and create written therapy plans of care upon request. Coordinate audiometric screenings and refer residents for further audiology services as needed. Initiate speech-language therapy programs based on physician orders while maintaining regular contact with the medical team. Maintain comprehensive records including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff to integrate treatment goals with overall resident care plans. Attend care planning meetings, participate in in-service training, and review facility policies annually. Submit statistical reports for Medicare billing and manage program budgets within annual parameters.
Required Qualifications
- M.A. or M.S. Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an approved school
- State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Clinical Competence Certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
- Current, valid CPR/BLS credential
- Qualities of maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with others

- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level
- Rehabilitation Therapies (license number/certification number)
