Job Summary
Confirm and interpret physician referrals, perform patient assessments, and plan individualized treatment programs based on developmental age and medical diagnoses. Implement these programs to achieve goals set with patients and families while coordinating clinical activities with therapists, physicians, and the broader healthcare team. Document all patient care in medical records and complete required forms in compliance with regulatory agencies and hospital policies. Collaborate with students, volunteers, and support staff to ensure efficient care delivery, and participate in departmental activities including performance improvement, program evaluation, and peer review. Supervise Speech Language Pathology students where licensure permits and orient new employees.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligible to complete clinical fellowship year (CFY)
- AHA BLS-certified (from a Carilion approved program) within six months of employment
- Effective interpersonal, communication, customer service and teamwork skills
- Experience in site specific level of care preferred but not required
- For Home Health positions one year of clinical experience required
