Job Summary
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides prevention, assessment, consultation, and intervention for students with communication disorders impacting educational performance. Responsibilities include conducting evaluations, providing direct therapy services, developing interventions aligned to IEP goals, and collaborating with educators and families. The SLP ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, maintains documentation, and engages in program development within the school.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution
- Valid Louisiana Speech-Language Pathology License (L-SLP) or eligibility for licensure
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP), Clinical Fellow (CF-SLP), or Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) working under supervision
- Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Louisiana special education regulations
- Experience with the IEP process and documentation requirements
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience providing speech-language services in a school-based setting
- Experience working with multilingual or bilingual students
- Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
Additional Requirements
- Candidates credentialed as Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA) may be considered if working under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. Duties and responsibilities will be adjusted in accordance with Louisiana licensure regulations and supervision requirements.
