Job Summary
Administer speech and language evaluations, tests, or examinations to diagnose and plan treatments for clients with speech problems and swallowing disorders. Assess patients with various speech, language, cognitive, or swallowing problems and develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnoses. Provide speech and language services while monitoring disease progression and adjusting treatments accordingly. Instruct clients in practicing therapeutic exercises and provide consultation for treatment processes. Ensure all standards, policies, protocols, and quality requirements are met. May supervise assistants, aides, and students as they provide client care. Participate in activities to promote the department, Good Samaritan Society, and Sanford Health. Interact with providers, case managers, third party payers, and public organizations. Provide ongoing education and training to peers in areas of expertise. Work in post-acute, long term care, and home health care environments when applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure
- Must be licensed in the state(s) of practice as Speech-Language Pathologist
- Holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)
- Valid driver's license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications
Desired Qualifications
- When working at a Sanford Health Facility (not required but preferred by GSS Facilities): Holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or currently working on Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)
