Job Summary
Conduct independent evaluations to assess students with speech or language disorders and provide individual and group therapy consistent with Individual Education Plans. Develop clinical management strategies, participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committees, and consult with colleagues, students, and parents regarding therapy goals. Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement activities improving communication skills and provide professional development to school personnel. Create learning environments conducive to student maturity, administer discipline per the Student Code of Conduct, and compile all required reports and records. May supervise licensed speech-language pathology assistants or aides. Requires a Master's degree in speech-language pathology and a valid Texas license, with one year of supervised clinical experience.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA)
- Bachelor's degree and valid Texas Education Agency speech therapy certificate
- Ability to use the accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders and conditions
- Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions
- Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- One year supervised clinical speech-language pathology experience
- May supervise licensed speech-language pathology assistant(s) or speech aide(s).*
- May direct and monitor the work of speech-language pathology assistant(s) or speech aide(s).
