Job Summary
Evaluate residents for communication problems, conduct in-depth assessments, and initiate therapy plans based on physician orders. Coordinate audiometric screenings, maintain written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, and submit statistical reports for Medicare billing. Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and families during care planning meetings and in-service training sessions. Review and revise speech-language policies annually while managing program costs within the annual budget. Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory standards and uphold resident rights with respect and kindness.
Required Qualifications
- Current New York State license as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- M.A. or M.S. Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an approved school
- State license to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing
- Current, valid CPR/BLS credential
- Qualities of maturity, diplomacy, and ability to work well with others

- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level
- Flexibility to work as needed based on facility demands

- Verification of qualifications by the State Department of Health

- Clinical Competence Certification from the American Speech and Hearing Association
- Preferred in-service training
