Job Summary
Provide intensive speech and language, feeding, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) services to assigned caseloads consistent with students' documented therapy goals. Develop and implement therapeutic interventions, including feeding and meal-time plans, while assessing and updating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on individual strengths and challenges. Evaluate, document, and monitor treatment progress in session notes and progress reports. Collaborate regularly with parents, medical professionals, administrators, and teachers to ensure comprehensive educational plans. May provide substitute teaching coverage, monitor hearing status, and assist with AAC device authorizations. Requires a valid New York State Speech Language Pathologist license and current TSHH or TSSLD certification.
Required Qualifications
- Valid license and current registration as a Speech Language Pathologist issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED)
- Current certification and registration as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH) or Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD), issued by the New York State Education Department
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong writing and organizations skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs, specifically Word and PowerPoint
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by American Speech-Language-Hearing Associate (ASHA)
- Experience and knowledge of any of the following: AAC/AT and communication applications
- Oral motor structures and function
- Swallowing and feeding issues working with individuals with complex physical and communication delays
- Speech motor disorders
- Training or certification in PROMPT
- Experience with intellectual and developmental delays, including writing therapeutic and/or IEP goals and performing SLP assessments with students with significant disabilities
