Job Summary
The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) plans and provides Speech-Language Pathology services to students with speech, voice, or language disorders under the supervision of a Speech Pathologist. Responsibilities include assessing students, providing therapeutic interventions, managing IEP goals, documenting student performance, and collaborating with staff on special education services. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and a current Texas state license as an SLPA, along with strong organizational and communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university
- Current Texas state license as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant
- Working knowledge of federal laws, state guidelines and DAS policies
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, instructional and behavioral modifications and accommodations
- Thorough knowledge of communication disorders including all areas of language, phonological processes, articulation, voice and fluency
- Practicum or previous employment in public school setting
