Job Summary
Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with speech, voice, or language disorders. Assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with their students' ability to derive full benefit from the educational program. Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with IEP goals; evaluate progress and determine readiness for termination of therapy services. Conduct independent evaluations to assess students and determine eligibility; develop management strategies and diagnostic statements; participate in ARD meetings. Counsel and involve parents; collaborate with teachers; provide professional development; communicate with students, parents, and colleagues about therapy goals. Create a conducive learning environment; supervise SLP assistants or aides; evaluate and adjust services; assist in selecting equipment/materials. Maintain reports and compliance; participate in professional development; travel districtwide; may lift and transfer students. Requires Master’s degree in SLP and Texas licensure or Texas certificate; strong tests/measurements knowledge; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA) or
- Bachelor's degree plus
- Valid Texas Education Agency speech therapy certificate
- Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions
- Ability to use the accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders and conditions
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
