Job Summary

Identify student needs and develop formal educational plans to address academic, social, and developmental goals. Create lesson plans, teach subjects, and mentor students individually or in small groups while observing progress to evaluate strengths and weaknesses. Communicate with families, counselors, and administrators regarding student advancement, and document all educational plans and goals as required by facility and state standards. Supervise the classroom environment, enforce rules, and oversee students during breaks and detention. Adhere to treatment plans and participate in team meetings as requested. Maintain a professional attitude, resolve complaints, and prioritize patient safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field which is eligible for teacher certification or license within the state where the facility is located
  • Current certification or license to teach within the state where the facility is located
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification
  • First aid

Desired Qualifications

  • One or more years' experience working with population of the facility
  • Knowledgeable of the developmental stages and behaviors for age group of students
