Job Summary

SPED Resource Teacher position at Lacy ES in Princeton, TX. Provide students with appropriate learning activities in core subjects, develop and implement district-aligned lesson plans, assess student learning, collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEP, manage classroom behavior, supervise instructional aides and volunteers, and engage with parents and the school community. Must hold a Bachelor’s degree and a valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements or approved training per the District of Innovation Plan; experience with special education and knowledge of IEP requirements; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to tailor instruction to diverse learner needs; readiness to participate in faculty activities and adhere to district policies. Mandatory AED/CPR certification for PE contexts where applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
  • [Physical Education Teachers: Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate]
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Experience: Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
  • Develop and implement lesson plans meeting district curriculum requirements
  • Assess student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities
  • Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEP
  • Plan and assign work to instructional aides/volunteers
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures
  • Direct the work of assigned instructional aide(s)
  • Be able to manage routine and irregular hours
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Professional growth and development requirements
  • Participation in staff development activities
  • Maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members
