Job Summary
Paraprofessional supporting certified staff in an elementary classroom to help meet instructional goals. Responsibilities include guiding and assisting students in reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer-based instruction; working with students individually and in small groups; assisting with administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests, and assessments; preparing instructional materials; documenting student learning; supporting behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly environment; supervising non-instructional tasks (lunch, bus, playground, study halls); accompanying students on field trips; assisting with parent contact and collaboration; supporting students with special needs to maximize inclusion and participation, including involvement in IEP processes. May assist in training other paraprofessionals and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act
- Prior experience working with special needs children desirable
