Job Summary
SpEd Paraprofessional providing instructional support in a Special Education setting under the supervision of a certified teacher and principal. Responsibilities include assisting in classroom programs (self-help, behavior management, and instructional activities), helping prepare instructional materials and displays, supporting students with disabilities in mobility and daily activities (e.g., transfers to/from wheelchairs), supervising students during lunch, bus, and playground, maintaining confidential records, and assisting with substitute teachers. Requires valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate and at least two years of college coursework or an associate’s degree, with experience working with children and the ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and support reading, writing, and math readiness as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
- Completion of at least two years of college at an institution of higher education (48 semester hours) or an associate’s degree or demonstrated ability related to reading, writing, and math instruction readiness
- Experience working with children
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Willingness to participate in staff development and adhere to district records policies
